About Spice Bay
On the southern end of Siesta Key you will find the fresh new development of Spice Bay. Set amongst dramatic paradise of majestic oak trees, Spice Bay is a Bayfront enclave of home sites spread over eight acres with 450’ fronting sparkling Little Sarasota Bay. The development will exude a natural Florida feel and emanate an old world charm with the architectural style of the Dutch and British West Indies.
The West Indies appearance is the product of old world architectural style adapted to natural conditions encountered in the Caribbean. The result is a very unique and highly aesthetic style of architecture, blending old world elegance with a casual tropical feel. The West Indies are known for strong sun combined with refreshing tropical breezes, suitably the architecture which developed there was meant to deal with, and make use of these qualities of nature. The floor plans are very open with many windows and doors which allow the tropical breezes to flow freely throughout the homes, cooling guests in the tropical sun. Light colors are used to reflect heat. Louvered shutters are used to allow airflow while providing some privacy. Awnings over the windows catch and direct a cool breeze into the homes. These many utilitarian aspects of the homes added a new aesthetic quality to the old world style.
The fourteen home sites at Spice Bay are approximately a half acre each. All 14 sites set behind an impressive gated entrance of coral stone. Four of these sites will be located directly on the bay and the remainder will be amongst the lush native vegetation that creates the natural feeling of the development. All owners will have access to the Spice Bay community dock and on site boat slips are available to all homeowners as well as a dedicated kayak launch.
